Follow me down the winding dark rabbit hole dare to Take a peek through the looking glass…

- M. Krotz

My stories are heavily influenced in the realm of noir crime novels, gothic fantasy/ dark fantasy, with explorations of historical identity, sex, sexuality, violence, sexual violence, racism, death and at times self harm. If you are not comfortable exploring without a specified content disclaimer please do not read the story. My gaol is to deconstruct important issues that shape us in a fictional world and to entertain you as a reader, not to shock, harm, or trigger anyone.

With that said, please enjoy and I always look forward to getting feedback❣️

Below is a an early rendition of Prince Charming, a short story that I featured here for an anthology I had planned to write. However, I have decided to go in a different direction and publish the short stories independently of one another. I may still, in the future, decide to anthologize them. Prince Charming is a fantasy noir story that is loosely based on a true crime. Prince Charming Part 2

Part 2

“OH, IF I DIED NOW, I’D DIE A HAPPY WOMAN.” She said stretching and reclining gracefully in her chair. A look of appalled irritation flickered across his face at her leisurely gesture prompting her to quickly straighten in her chair.

He wiped his mouth with the linen napkin and laughed. “Well, maybe that can be arranged.” He teased.

They erupted once again in laughter as he came round the table helping her out of her chair his hand held out for her to take, there it is,  more of that old fashioned charm she thought gleefully taking the extended and well-manicured hand. He brought her close to him not too forcefully but just firm enough to make her knees go weak, just a touch. She closed her eyes taking in the feel of him against her as they swung to the lullaby that filled the room.

His cheek pressed just so against hers that she could smell his faint cologne of citrus and smokey wooden musk, they made her think of a forest right after it rained and what she imagined Hemingway would smell like after a good bath.  Her cheek suddenly felt naked and cold. Opening her eyes she found him looking down at her, his eyes were deep blue like the roaring sea, she felt him against her soft stomach.  She felt consumed by the intensity of him. She couldn’t remember the last time someone looked at her like that. Come to think of it she was having a hard time trying to think of anything. He leaned in and kissed her softly. A small rush pulled her down. The room seemed to spin and fizzle out. “I feel...” she trailed off holding her head trying to steady herself.

“Yes,” he whispered, “I feel it too.” And he took her lips once again. Unable to resist she kissed him back but the warmth didn’t come to her belly as she had anticipated. She just kept falling and falling into an endless chasm. “Shall I help you to the room?” He asked soothingly.

She nodded and managed to whisper, “yes, please.”

He laid her gently on the pillow engulfed bed framed by a giant bouquet of red roses that sat on her headboard mantel. He smiled pleased at the sight. “I see you received my gift.” She looked over at the overwhelming arrangement and smiled.

“They’re so lov...” her words trailed off as her eyes closed, despite how hard she fought against the darkness.

“Then you received the nightgown too?”  She was barely able to manage more than a murmur in response. He began looking through the draws and then the enormous closet that could easily be a second room. There it was, safely hung on a silk hanger.
